Born and raised in San Jose, Jessica trained in Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Contemporary around the Bay Area. Her teachers included world renowned artists Xavier Ferla, Kristine Elliott, and Sam Weber. She had the pleasure of attending summer intensives such as American Ballet Theatre’s in New York and Ballet Austin's, along with numerous workshops and conventions over the course of her training.
As a dance instructor and personal trainer, Jessica has over 15 years of teaching experience and attends seminars and other courses each year to continue to provide her students with the highest level of training. Over the years she has worked with people from all walks of life. Ranging from professional movers to novices just looking to stay fit. She has had dance students accepted into various college programs including but not limited to Lines BFA Program, Arts Umbrella, Marymount, NYU, UCLA, Columbia, Chapman, & Juilliard. Many of her dance students have gone on to have successful careers in LA, NYC, & around the world. In addition to the private coaching she provides through ShadowOfaDancer, Jessica is currently Ballet Master of Nor Cal Dance Arts in San Jose. She holds a Bachelors of Arts in Performing Arts & offers personal training in Ballet and the GYROKINESIS® & GYROTONIC® methods. You can find a full list of her degrees & certifications below.
As a professional dancer, Jessica is currently a dancer, choreographer, and teacher with the newly formed Oceanica Ballet. Prior to joining Oceanica Ballet she was a both a Soloist and, later, a Principle dancer with Bruce Steivel's Bay Pointe Ballet. She was given numerous opportunities to dance both Soloist and Principle roles in a number of Mr. Steivel's ballets including Sugar Plum Fairy and Snow Queen in The Nutcracker and Tiger Lily in Peter Pan. Jessica has also had the pleasure of working with and performing original works by renowned choreographers such as Yannis Adoniou, Gregory Dawson, Mark Foehringer, and Liz Roman. Other roles include but are not limited to, Sugar Plum Fairy in Yanis Pikieris' Nutcracker and the Brown Pas de Duex in Vincente Nebrada's Waltzet. She has also danced with Menlowe Ballet under the direction of Micheal Lowe, Oakland Ballet Company under the direction of Graham Lustig, Western Ballet under the direction of Alexi Zubiria, and The Milissa Payne Project.
